Children of the Tsunami

On December 26, 2004 off the coast of Sumatra, a huge earthquake tore open the floor of the Indian Ocean. The earthquake triggered a series of destructive tsunami waves that roared out of the sea at five hundred miles per hour slamming the coastlines across southern Asia.

One hundred and fifty miles from the epicenter of the 9.0 earthquake, the Indonesian province of Aceh was hit by the tsunami waves that smashed everything in their path. One hundred and sixty thousand people lost their lives and over four hundred thousand were displaced. Survivors struggled with the loss of family, friends and home as they put the pieces of their lives back together.
